A New Bookstore Operations Model

Equitable Access is a bookstore operations model in which students are billed a flat per credit hour fee and receive all their course materials on or before the first day of class.

A well-executed Equitable Access program delivers incredible results to the entire institutional community:

Students

All students pay the same per credit hour fee on required materials, offering clarity on the true cost of attendance and maximizing day one preparedness. Having course materials in hand by the first day of class reduces anxiety and creates a convenient, frictionless customer experience.

Faculty

The bookstore is better able to provide faculty-preferred materials at lower prices through negotiated pricing with the publishers. The ability to directly integrate into the LMS, (sometimes referred to as Inclusive Access) and streamlined delivery options for physical materials mean students are prepared on day one, giving back an average of 2 class periods.

Institution

Commission becomes a standardized rate based on the per credit hour charge, providing increased revenue and a clear and predictable auxiliary budget. Increased course materials affordability alleviates pressure on the rising cost of attendance. Day one readiness increases student retention by an average of 8–10%
